Restricted Firearms, Accessories & Techniques at the English Pit Shooting Range

To ensure the range remains safe for both users of the range and its neighbors and to ensure range rules are adhered to require that we limit the use of our ranges to firearms, accessories and techniques that we feel the range can safely accommodate. We understand the position of some who would believe the following are perfectly safe, that they should be allowed to use them and that we are unreasonable for not allowing them to do so. To them we will say that we are responsible for and are managing the risks. The following presents too much risk and are not allowed at English Pit Shooting Range.

Rifles With Folding Stocks
Any rifle with a folding stock must have the stock fully open and locked before being shot. Shooting a firearm with a folding stock in a closed or folded position WILL result in:

  • Immediate removal from the range for the rest of the day
  • No refund of the range fee will be provided
  • Entry into RID as a Level 1 Safety Violation
  • NOT ALLOWED

'Bump Firing' & 'Bump Fire' Accessories
Rapid fire is not allowed at the English Pit Shooting Range. Accessories designed to enhance the rapid firing of a firearm are in direct conflict with that range rule. Examples of these devices include motorized or other mechanical devices designed to rapidly and repeatedly engage the trigger, 'slide stocks' that use recoil to bump fire (such as the SSAR-15 manufactured by Slide Fire Solutions'), etc.

    NOT ALLOWED

    AK-47, SKS & AR-15 Pistols
Shooters who have attempted shooting these on our rifle ranges have shown a very poor percentage of hitting the centerfire rifle berms much less their targets.

The amount of noise these rifle cartridges creates causes too many problems for other shooters on the pistol range.

These issues have caused them to not be allowed to be shot on any range at English Pit.

    NOT ALLOWED

    50 BMG
Our longest range is only 100 yards. Aside from the excessive noise, a 50 BMG bullet is just coming up to speed at that distance.

English Pit is simply too small of a range too near a populated area to allowed these to be shot at the facility.

    NOT ALLOWED

    Class III Firearms
Class (or Type) III firearms as defined by the ATF (often referred to as a machine guns, sawed of shotguns, etc.) are not legal to be used in Washington State by the general citizenry. Type III firearms are not allowed.
